Winnie Winkky Kids Academy was founded by Winny Medupe, affectionately known as Teacher Mama by her very first class in 2019.

Born with scoliosis, Teacher Mama’s life experiences taught her the importance of acceptance, resilience, and the understanding that all human beings are created differently and uniquely for a purpose.

Her early childhood development journey began in 1995 at Kideo Crèche in Kgabalatsane, however the initiative ended after two years due to financial constraints and limited experience at the time. During the height of the HIV/AIDS crisis, Teacher Mama continued to serve her community by offering free childcare and support services to families in need, without external funding or assistance.

In January 2019, Winnie Winkky Kids Academy was officially launched to provide a nurturing, inclusive, and faith-inspired environment where children could thrive. The Academy operates under Christian values of love, service, integrity, and compassion.

Teacher Mama serves as the Principal, overseeing the daily operations of the school, supported by the School Management Team.
